Techniques for Your Blogging

Take the time to have a practical look at your business and work out how blogging can fit in. You do not want to be blogging on a constant basis, you simply want to bring this task a little nearer the top of your pile marked “low priority”. In some instances your blogs may be the only way you are making money and if this is the case, blogging should be put into the pile marked “high priority” and quickly! The timing of the schedule you set up for blogging is entirely up to yourself. It can, of course, be varied as and when it is necessary, say for example, if your circumstances change. It may well be that you’re going to temporarily blog on a daily basis on your Internet Blogging needs to be completed on a regular basis to ensure interesting material is available for your readers and to allow you to max up your profits. Some people are only encouraged to post on their blog when they are feeling particularly creative but this is really not how things should be and this problem can be overcome by putting your blog on a scheduleMarketing blog due to the fact that you are promoting an affiliate product or your new e-book is about to the launched. For a regular week you might consider blogging each day, but switching between all of your blogs. With scheduling the most important thing to think about is creating your timetable for the coming week. Consider what time of day is available to you to do your blogging especially if you are a part-time internet marketer. Which time will work best for you, mornings or afternoons? Make a draft plan whilst you are thinking about these things and decide what your blog topics will be for the posts you have in mind for the coming week. It your mind goes blank at this point, don’t worry as the seed has been planted and you are sure to come up with something soon. Find ways of streamlining your posting. If your blogs are related in some way, you will be able to change your posting to fit all of them. If, however, they are in totally different fields, you may still be able to save some time by using the same kind of blogs. For example, you may want to post a video from You Tube and whilst searching for one video you will find more to put on your other blogs. Scheduling your blogging may not result in the most imaginative outcome but it can lead to your blog being more successful. It will help you to be consistent with your blogging and you will do just what you set out to do – keep your readers interested and maximize your profits at the same time.

Resolve to Create Success in The New Year

While everyone else is busy making resolutions to exercise more, eat less, and handle stress, why not resolve to create the thing you really want: cash!

We recommend the resolutions below to get your affiliate program in shape for the year and maximize your earning potential. And we won't tell anyone if you skip aerobics!

Resolution 1: Visualize success and then create a plan

Start the year by strategically defining clear goals, actions, and objectives for the year. Review what you did last year; assess what worked and what didn't by running performance reports in the "Run Reports" area of the CJ Account Manager™. Create a plan of action for each quarter, paying special attention to holidays and seasonal trends.

Resolution 2: To everything there is a season

Your seasonal links are merry and bright during the right season but receive a much different response when they're no longer current. When you neglect to update your seasonal links and your publishers forget to swap them out for some new content, you're sending a stale message to your potential customers. And the unfortunate truth is that while it may be the publishers' responsibility to update the links on their sites, that negative, "out-of-season" connotation gets attributed to you. In addition, if your seasonal links aren't current, they're much more likely to be taken down by publishers.

The easiest way to avoid this is to update those seasonal links as soon as the season has ended. You may be thinking, "Can't I just expire my links?" and yes, you could, but the truth is that it's not quite so simple. The fact is, expired links just stop tracking, but they don't disappear, so those expired links will still sit on your publishers' sites (not making you or them any money) until they get updated or removed. So instead of forgetting about your seasonal links at the end of the year, commit to updating them throughout the year. You'll continue to provide your publishers with what they crave – the right content at the right time.

Resolution 3: Mitigate the risk

Ask yourself this question: "If any one of my publishers were to leave my program, or the revenue they generate dropped off significantly, would my program be critically impacted?" If 50 percent or more of your revenue is being generated by three or less publishers, or if one publisher is generating more than 30 percent of your revenue, the answer is "Yes!", and you have a concentration risk. When too few publishers are responsible for too great a percentage of your program's revenues, there is a significant potential for instability in your program's performance.

Take a look at potential concentration risks in your program today, and reduce them by bringing in new partners, expanding your mix of publisher business models, and increasing the number of publishers who are responsible for driving significant revenue. By running a Performance Report for the previous month or two by using the "Display by Publisher Company" option, you can easily identify the publishers who are critical to your program.

Resolution 4: Opportunity is knocking...let it in!

Are you letting pending applications pile up? If so, you are in effect saying, "No" to potential profits. Take a few minutes right now to review your pending applications. Some things to keep in mind:
Publishers with a 4 or 5 Network Earnings Ranking are among the top 15 percent of publishers in the network.
Pay close attention to publishers with a strong 3-month EPC; they are reliable, consistent performers.
Don't limit yourself to the brand names – many lesser-known organizations drive outstanding results.

TIP: Sort your pending publishers by their 3-month or 7-day EPCs or by their Network Earnings Ranking to find your high potential publishers quickly.

Performance Marketing 101 - The Basics

Many people unfamiliar with performance-based marketing (also called affiliate marketing) are surprised at the number of sophisticated ways advertisers try to reach them. Most Internet surfers could identify a banner or text ad, but the majority could not tell you about affiliate marketing.

Performance-based marketing, also known as affiliate marketing or pay-for-performance marketing, is one channel of marketing products and services online. It traditionally includes an advertiser and a publisher, sometimes known as an affiliate (you!).

For our purposes, we define a publisher, as an independent party that promotes the products or services of an advertiser in exchange for a commission on leads or sales. A publisher displays ads, text links, or product links on its Web site, in email campaigns, or in search listings and is paid a commission by the advertiser when a visitor takes a specific action, such as filling out a form, making a purchase or subscribing to a service.

An advertiser, also known as a merchant or retailer, is a Web site or company that sells a product or service online, accepts payments and fulfills orders. You place an ad or link to the advertiser's products and/or services on your Web site and the advertiser pays you a commission for leads or sales that result from your site. Easy, right? Not exactly, but there are some tricks to the trade and success factors we see in our top publishers.

What it Takes to Succeed

Those publishers suited best for performance marketing have some consistent characteristics:

A Web site designed for a specific niche of consumers or audience. While not all publishers have content sites, it is a simple way to enter into the pay-for-performance industry and a solid foundation to build upon if you later branch out to other marketing channels such as search engine marketing

Basic HTML skills to be able to insert and track advertisements such as banners, buttons and links

A set amount of time per day to dedicate to the program depending on number of Web sites
Do these characteristics describe you? If so, keep reading!

Performance Marketing Speak

Learn the Language – Performance Marketing Speak

Just like in any industry, performance marketing has its own language. Don't be intimidated; pretty soon these terms will be second nature.

Application Service Provider (ASP ) – An ASP is an online network that is accessible through the Internet instead of through the installation of software. It is quickly integrated with other Web sites and the services are easily implemented and scalable. An example of an ASP is the CJ Account Manager™.

Transparency - A characteristic of the CJ Marketplace, where the performance of advertisers, publishers, and ads is published openly within the CJ Account Manager. Publishers may create a Commission Junction account and join the CJ Marketplace at no cost. Publishers must regularly generate activity within the network (within 90 days) in order to maintain an active Commission Junction account.

Commission Payout – An amount of income received by a publisher for some quantifiable action such as selling an advertiser's product and/or service on the publisher's Web site.

Click-through - Also known as a click. The action a consumer takes when they are referred from a Web site through a link or advertisement and is taken to another Web site. Click-through ratio is the percentage of click for the number of advertising impressions displayed.

Cost per action (CPA)- A metric for online advertising where a rate is set for every action that is taken by an end-user.

Cost per thousand impressions (CPM)- A metric for online advertising where a rate is set for every thousand impressions.

Conversion rate- The percentage of visitors who take a desired action. The action that determines conversion is determined by the advertiser and may be a sale on the advertiser's Web site, a completed lead form, or another action.

Average earnings per 100 clicks (EPC)- An exclusive metric of the CJ Marketplace given for publishers, advertisers, and individual ads. EPC is a relative rating that illustrates the ability to convert clicks into commissions. For publishers, an advertiser's EPC shows how well that advertiser converts traffic into actual sales or leads. EPC will also help you see what creative is working and what needs changing. For advertisers, a publisher's EPC shows how well that publisher sends relevant traffic to advertisers' sites. EPC is published in two forms, 7-day and 3-month.

Impression- The viewing of an advertising banner, link, or product.

Search Engine Marketing (SEM)- The act of marketing a Web site via search engines. This can be done by "natural" or "organic" search which refers to all unpaid search results based on relevance in the content site or "paid" search which refers to all pay-per-click advertising (such as on Google, Yahoo! or MSN).

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)- The process of increasing the amount of visitors to a Web site by ranking high in the search results of a search engine. Varied techniques are used by content site publishers to improve a Web page's results.

Article Marketing

If you’re an affiliate who’s just starting out and doesn’t have a big budget to spend on your advertising initiatives, or if you enjoy writing, article marketing can be a good way to start promoting products without having to spend a lot of money. Your main investment in article marketing will be your time and creativity.
Article marketing is the technique of writing articles that are posted and distributed online for the purpose of driving traffic to a particular website or product you’re promoting. These articles may be posted on sites dedicated specifically to article marketing, such as Ezinearticles or Goarticles, or could be written for an industry-specific website. There are many different styles of these articles, such as expert advice articles, a review of a product, or many other topics.
For example, let’s say you are promoting an ebook about gardening. You could write an article in an online directory that offers readers some advice about a specific topic, like general tips on growing bigger roses. You could then mention that you learned these tips and more from a particular ebook, and that they should check it out if they’d like even more advice. You’d then post your HopLink, so you get credit if someone ends up purchasing the product.
The additional benefit of article marketing is that if your articles are useful enough, you could become recognized as an expert in a particular field, which could end up generating more exposure and sales for you.
Pros: Free; allows for a great deal of creativity, especially if you like writing; if your article gets shared or distributed around the Internet, it can “go viral,” resulting in a great deal of additional free traffic for youCons: Time-consuming; may take a lot of effort before you see articles start generating traffic; can be competitive if there are many other people writing on the same topic

Niche Sites & Blogs

Like article marketing, creating niche sites and/or blogs can be another great option for affiliates who have more time and creativity than money. If you do create your own website or self-hosted blog, there may be costs for a domain name and hosting, but these are typically pretty small. There are also many options to get your own site or blog that is hosted for free, though you may be more limited on options like the look and feel of the site or how many pages your site can have.
Once you’ve identified a niche market that you want to promote (such as gardening), you create your own website or blog that is dedicated to this topic. You then write articles for your own site, similar to the types of articles you might write for article marketing directories. The goal is to get free traffic to your website, either by getting linked to from other sites or by ranking well organically in search engines on particular search terms. You can then have HopLinks to a number of different ClickBank products in that niche, giving you the opportunity to promote many different products from a single source.
Creating your own site is especially beneficial for ranking in search engines, as the more articles and content you create, the higher search engines will rank your site. Like article marketing, this technique can take time before you start seeing results, so it’s not something you should expect to show immediate returns, but it can be one of the best ways to create sustainable long-term profits with a minimum of money spent. You can even combine this technique with article marketing or social media marketing, by linking to your site from the bio of your article or social media profile.
Pros: Low cost or free; allows for a great deal of creativity; potential to drive large amounts of traffic through search engines or social media; you can build a “brand” for your website, especially if you host your own site or blog and have a unique domain nameCons: Time-consuming; may take a lot of effort before you start generating traffic; can be very competitive if there are many other sites in your niche

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing has exploded in the past few years as a way to advertise and drive free traffic. “Social media” is a very broad term that includes sites and services like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, social bookmarking sites like Digg and Del.icio.us, Youtube, and many more. The main benefits of tapping into the power of social media are that it’s free and that your message has the potential to “go viral” and reach a huge amount of people quickly with no extra effort on your part. The difficulties of social media are how to get your voice heard above the millions of other people out there, and how to avoid being seen as a social media “spammer.” The key to being successful promoting products in the social media space is to provide content that’s worthwhile enough for people to actually want to follow you and take your advice when you recommend products. Positve: Free; easy to get started and participate in; has the potential to reach huge audiences; many potential sites and services to participate in Negative: Lots of competition on popular services like Twitter; many people on social networks don’t like to be sold to, so there’s the potential to be labeled a spammer

SEO ; search engine marketing

Search engine marketing is comprised of two main techniques:
search engine optimization (SEO) and
pay per click advertising (PPC). Each has very different challenges and benefits.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of trying to get your website, blog, or other page (such as an article you’ve written for an article directory) ranked highly in search engines for a particular keyword or phrase.
The ultimate goal is to drive free traffic to your website or promotion when someone searches on that keyword. SEO can generate an extremely good return for you, but often requires a significant investment of up-front time to learn good SEO techniques and apply these to your work. However, the long-term benefits of creating content that ranks well in search engines can be extraordinarily profitable.

Pay per click advertising (PPC) is the practice of placing paid advertisements in search engine results for a particular keyword or phrase. You agree to pay a certain amount if someone searches on a keyword and clicks on your advertisement. Many very successful affiliates pay to advertise on the search engines, as the main benefit is highly-targeted traffic, but the downside is that it can cost a significant amount of money and requires a great deal of testing and experimentation to find profitable keywords, ad copy, etc. It can also be very competitive, so PPC can be a difficult and expensive tactic for affiliates who are just starting out.
Positive : Quick to get up and running; popular keywords can drive a great deal of traffic quickly; you can target highly relevant, well-qualified traffic
Negative: Can be extremely expensive; highly competitive; search engines (especially Google) have many rules about what affiliate promotions are acceptable; usually require a great deal of research, attention, and oversight, especially early on, to be profitable

Paid online surveys

Paid online surveys can be a fun and interesting way to make some extra cash. There are literally hundreds of sites that are interested in your opinion and are willing to compensate you for taking online surveys. Below you'll find some honest answers to some of the most popular paid survey questions, some tips to help you get started and some additional advice for when you get things rolling.
How do paid online surveys work?By using one of the
Survey Directories on this site, you can sign up for any survey sites that you are interested in. When you sign up for them, they will gather some demographic information. Once that site has a survey that fits your profile, they will usually send you an email invitation. The invitation will normally contain a link to the survey, the approximate amount of time it will take to complete and what the compensation for the project is. You are in no way obligated to take the survey if you don't want to. Once you have completed a survey, the way in which you are rewarded will vary by site. The vast majority of sites will simply send you a check. Some (relatively few) compensate by PayPal, some with gift certificates, some with drawing entries and some with prizes. Some of the more active sites create a user account in which you will accumulate cash or points, which can be exchanged for cash, gift certificates or prizes. For these, once you reach a certain amount, you can cash out and collect your reward.

Paid Survey

How much can you make with paid surveys?
You may have seen other sites claiming that you can make thousands per month by taking online surveys. Truth is, while it is possible to make that much in a year, you will not be able to make thousands per month. You can however, make enough to buy that extra something, take your family out for a night on the town or tuck a little extra away in your savings. Consider this a fun and interesting way to earn some "bonus cash", not as a get rich scheme or a replacement for a full-time income.
How much you actually make depends on many factors; who you are, where you live and other demographic factors, as well as, what kinds of surveys that companies are interested in. Where a couple hundred dollars per month is attainable, it won't be steady, dependable income and may not be possible for some. You'll have months where you make very little and months where you may make considerably more. I have participated in online focus groups that have paid several hundred dollars for one project. If you are patient, over time, I think you'll find that paid surveys will be worth your time.
How many surveys can you expect to receive?
When you are first starting out you may not receive very many survey invitations. Whereas some sites may send you several survey invitations per month, a vast majority of sites may only send several per year. Don't be discouraged if within the first few months you are not receiving a significant amount of survey invites. Be patient, once you get the ball rolling, you'll have plenty of surveys to choose from.
What's the difference between a paid online survey, a focus group and product testing?Paid surveys are usually short, although some may take up to 45 minutes, and are taken online. You get sent an invitation, take the survey and get rewarded. Focus Groups usually require a bit more effort, take more time and can take place either at a physical location, on the phone, or online in the form of a discussion. Focus Groups usually pay quite a bit more and generally pay in cash. For Product Testing, you will usually be sent a product to test and then either take a survey on the product or write a review. The reward here is usually the product itself, although some do offer additional compensation.

Affiliates Marketing - The golden mines 1

Create a website where you place links ( ads) from your affiliates but be sure to get a good domain name for your site .
Your may think that creating a web site is a very difficult task but actually it is a great fun to use ready made programes which allow you to create sites without any knowledge of the modern web site making techniques like Artisteer program which made it easier than before to build your site for your personal needs and may be you will become a web desigher too and sell webs too.
It is advisable to get a good lap top and buy a good domain and look for a good hosting for your site.
Make sure to join a good affiliate program to choose your ads therfrom.
When your web site gets clicks it places a cookie on the affiliates' computer. If a purchase is made by this click within the duration of the merchant cookie, then you get a commission!.
To avoid any problems in this sort of business one should find quality in-house affiliate program and/or a good affiliate broker.
Long duration cookies is a must , that will allow multiple purchases per cookie, have good percentage commission (10% or more), find a merchant who offers performance incentives and merchants with a good record for publisher relations and most of all merchants that pay.
Review your site statistics to know where your traffic is coming from, what links they click and get rid of the links which make no trading.
